Soluzioni 2° Prova: IT Turismo 2015 - lingua Inglese

17 giugno 2015
  1. Travelling abroad for the first time was very weird and spellbinding: the author could barely understand the foreign language that was spoken, and she felt very solitary.

  2. The author had to catch things quickly in order to meet the deadlines required by her work. So she learned how to observe things, places, people, and get the very essence of them outside the typical places and events which you can experience as a tourist.
  3. Guidebooks just offer the basic information a tourist needs to visit a place, but they don’t go deeper in the everyday life and customs of inhabitants.
  4. While she was in Asti, she had the opportunity to see a café’s owner making the wine harvest supper, and she was even invited to join in the evening.
  5. In Jaipur the author learned from the nomadic people the art of preserving, pickling and drying foods.
  6. This sentence means that food is a part of everyday life in every part of the world, for every culture and population. Food is also a way to communicate and show hospitality when you are not able to speak the language of your foreign host.
  7. If the writer had only had meals in hotel restaurants, she would have missed the generosity and insights of family life worlds, and she would not have sat down with strangers and shared their local food.
  8. When she was in Hong Kong she experienced the weirdness of the products sold in the market of Sheung Wan: turtles, frogs, fish, snakes, pig’s head, wreaths of intestine. She also experienced the difference between the best restaurants and the congee shops in cooking local ingredients.
  9. The writer perfectly remembers the moment in which she was invited to drink snake wine after having seen the snake cooked and prepared.
  10. When she cooks, she always reminds of Hong Kong due to the circular chopping board she had made for her kitchen in Sommerset: it is a very useful object, because it doesn’t shift when you cut things on it.
